Who already started to bake Christmas cookies? The first cookie jars at home are filled with chocolate-walnut brownies, nougat croissants and Christmas Stollen. These are the classics alongside shortbread, gingerbread and Spekulatius. But why not try some lesser known alternatives? On Pinterest, I discovered a recipe for cinnamon balls and was so enthusiastic about the simple preparation and few ingredients that I directly baked my own cinnamon-almond balls. Those of you who like energy balls and cinnamon will love these delicious and healthy cinnamon-almond balls! The preparation takes max. 10 minutes plus 10 minutes baking time in the oven. It is especially nice to sprinkle the baked cinnamon-almond balls with icing sugar. If you don’t like icing sugar, you can also roll the balls in grated coconut.
Last year was truly an apple year for us! We still have so many apples stored in the house and I wonder if we will ever get rid of them. A cinnamon-date applesauce is always a good choice but my family asked me to prepare an apple cake. Of course, I am very happy to fulfil this desire. Since I did not want to bake the classic apple crumble, I thought of a new recipe. Especially, in the cold season, I love to drink a hot chocolate or a cup of tea together with some delicious piece of cake. Because the apple cake has a light cinnamon note, the taste reminds me of our delicious Christmas cookies.
As you might have noticed already, I absolutely love oats! Every time I eat yoghurt, I add a decent portion of oats to it. The same goes for the apple cake. Further, you might recognize that the previously mentioned cinnamon-date applesauce is also part of this recipe. Last but not least, you can halve the recipe and use a smaller cake tin if you wish. However, the cake is very popular in my family so it just lasts a few days. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
The apple harvest is already a few weeks ago, but I still have a decent stock of apples. Of course, this is perfect for preparing a delicious applesauce. Applesauce is very widely used. A friend of mine adds applesauce to almost every meal. Particularly, I like applesauce because you can heat up a small portion at any time and then enjoy a hot snack or dessert. ? Naturally, applesauce can not be missed either with potato fritters or pancakes.
I came up with this applesauce recipe spontaneously. I really just cooked the apples and then added the other ingredients like cinnamon or vanilla syrup because I had that stuff left in my kitchen. Cutting the apples in small pieces is the “hardest” part because then you just let the apples simmer and can use your free time effectively to work or clean up the kitchen ;-).
